Integrating vocational education into eTwinning

Initial vocational education and training (IVET) is a key priority for eTwinning.

eTwinning projects help turn educational goals into real-world learning for students in both academic and vocational training programmes. IVET is designed to give learners practical skills in their chosen field. But it also teaches students how to problem-solve and adapt to change – qualities that are valuable in any career. To support these efforts, eTwinning offers IVET teachers a platform for collaboration and professional growth.

Promoting eTwinning in IVET

eTwinning creates opportunities for IVET teachers and learners, helping to design and implement blended learning mobility.

Our video explores how eTwinning supports vocational education across Europe. The European Commission explains the role of eTwinning in promoting international collaboration among IVET schools. Dr Nikolaos Mouratoglou from the eTwinning Central Support Service also highlights the results of the 2022 eTwinning monitoring report which showed how eTwinning helps IVET teachers meet other teachers and develop partnerships.

The eTwinning community also recognises the added value of integrating eTwinning in IVET. eTwinning ambassador Maria Isabel Vila emphasises the benefits of aligning IVET projects with student needs, while group moderators Maria Rosario Utrilla and Petra Turan encourage teachers to join the IVET community group where eTwinners can exchange project ideas and good practices, and network with peers across Europe.

The video shows this collaborative spirit in practice at a vocational institution in Belgium. Teachers and students discuss their eTwinning activities – how they foster collaboration and prepare pupils for real-life experiences.

An additional resource for IVET educators is the Fostering wellbeing in my career development eTwinning kit which provides resources to improve career literacy. It promotes social awareness, positive relationships with others and overall wellbeing.
