About
Who are we?
Gesamtschule Weierheide Oberhausen is a comprehensive school in the middle of the ‘Ruhrgebiet’, an industrial region that has been undergoing significant structural change in the past few decades (e.g. Industriekultur). The school has about 1,000 students, ranging from years 5 to 13. Our motto is ‘be creative, act responsibly, value diversity’.
We have a long tradition of cultural programmes, e.g. concerts, exhibitions and performances on a variety of crucial topics. We cooperate with museums, theatres, universities and other institutions in Oberhausen and the region. We consider it especially important to help our students become responsible members of a democratic society.
In 2012, we established the “Projektkurs Europa”. In this 90-minute-lesson per week, we prepare and follow up all activities about our Erasmus+ activities and exchanges.
We are an open minded and dynamic staff and we have experience with many projects.
