Our "W.O.W" project was born from a twofold premise: the isolation of our young people since the COVID crisis and the growing importance of digital technology, which is now essential in our societies and at school. These starting points have resulted in shared priorities among our four institutions. It seems obvious to us that European cooperation is a means to combat the loneliness of young people by strengthening their language and social skills and using digital technology wisely. Thus, our project “W.O.W” aims to develop key skills in the linguistic and digital fields and contribute to education for sustainable development. By breaking down the walls between 100 French, Italian, Greek and Spanish students with various social profiles, theW.O.W project will enable these young people to live a hybrid learning experience (thanks to etwinning and physical mobility) which will also highlight the crucial importance of social ties and human contact. Walls, whether they are barriers, ramparts, boundaries or artistic supports (from classical frescoes to street art) are an integral part of the cultures and identity of our four countries, whose borders have changed regularly throughout history. These common historical and artistic bases will be the springboard for a thorough reflection on what can be the foundation of an active, open and fraternal national and European citizenship in 2023. Through a conceptualization of “walls” (which can also be political, social, psychological, linguistic, environmental and digital constructions), we wish to lead the students to a profound analysis of our European societies in full change and yet still subject to divisions of all kinds. Students will discover that the European Union was built on a project to open borders. In addition, the climate crisis has no borders, so the “W.O.W” project aims to make students react to the “signs” of climate change (hence the English reference to “writing on the wall” meaning that a radical change is about to happen). This cooperative work on the environment and inclusion will be based on the recognition of each other, their difference, their qualities, our commonalities and everything incredible in them, hence our acronym “WOW” (=wow). Our objectives with this interdisciplinary, transversal and multilingual project are to make students aware of their common cultural heritage through the study of «walls» in the following disciplinary fields: languages, art, literature, science, history, geography and sociology.T
