
Co-operation Skills in CLIL
This course focuses on developing effective co-operation skills for both teachers and learners in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) environments. Participants will explore strategies to foster collaboration, peer interaction, and teamwork that enhance both subject and language learning.
Description
The course is highly interactive. Course activities are based on a pre-course participant needs analysis and aim to model best practices in co-operative CLIL classrooms. Through practical activities and reflection, the course highlights how co-operative practices can build supportive classroom communities and strengthen communication in CLIL contexts.
Learning objectives
Participants will have opportunities to
- gain knowledge of and tools for key features of CLIL.
- explore the role of language teachers in CLIL.
- develop practical ideas to support student learning through CLIL in their own context.
- explore and identify options for cross-curricular cooperation in their own context.
- improve English language, communication and cooperation skills in an international. setting.
- reflect on their own teaching practices to identify opportunities for enhancing co-operation.
- explore Irish literary culture through field study assignments.
Methodology & assessment
In daily online reviews participants will assess the course activities and their progress. This will guide the facilitators throughout the week. Peer assessment of activity products and group reflection will be used.
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
Course materials will be shared with participants in physical format during the course and will be available to participants online during and after the course. Some common digital tools will be used in e.g. pre-course survey & needs analysis before the course and frequently during the course.
Certification details
Certificates will include the course title, number of hours (30) and key contents / objectives and they are awarded to all on the last day of the course. Europass certificates will be issued on request.

Course package content:
The course fee covers tuition, materials, tutoring / mentoring before, during and after the course as well as administrative costs and issuing the course certificates. In addition, the fee covers the transportation costs of the field study trip to Coole Park and Yeats Tower.
The fee also includes the facilitation for arranging accommodation at Dunlin Village student apartments on the University of Galway campus when required.

Cancellation & changes:
After registering online (completing the pre-course survey) and confirming participation by responding to an email from the course provider, the participant is expected to attend the course and responsible to paying the course fee. The invoices will be sent c. 7 weeks before the course starts. In case of illness or other unforeseen circumstances, the course fee can either be transferred to another person from the same project or returned to the payee with a deduction of 50€.
