SPORTS EXPERIENTIAL EVENT (21-11-2023)

Inspiring Inclusivity: Paralympic Athlete Visits 21st Primary School of Lamia,Greece

On 21^st November 2023, our school welcomedthree members of the National Sports Federation of Persons with Disabilities – Ms. Orfanou Chrysoula (Federal Athletics Coach of Disabled Athletes), Mr. Giallourakis Nektarios (Coach of Disabled Athletes) and Mr. Konstantinos Tourkohoritis, aParalympic Athlete who has defied all limitations and shattered every stereotype with relation to disabilities.

The Paralympic Athlete, Tourkohoritis Konstantinos,talked with students about his life, his studies and his involvement with sports. He also discussed with them the importance of inclusion and acceptance of diversity. The students demonstrated great interest and shared some of their personal experiences and illustrated how sports have enriched their lives as well.In addition, the athlete showed aspects of his training and what he can do without having a leg, thus inspiring students to embrace diversity and celebrate the unique abilities of every individual. The students under the guidance of the coaches played boccia and sitting volley. At the end, the students were photographed with him and they received autographs signed by Mr Tourkohoritis.
