This course is aimed at teachers and all those who want to improve their fluency in English as well as refresh their methodology. The course will focus on a blend of lecture format and practical activities based on active learning to enhance the acquisition of English as a foreign language. OID number for Helsinki: E10196124.
Description
The course consists of 50 didactic hours and includes the following modules:
- Introduction of participants, warm ups and ice breakers, outline of the programme
- Introduction to the course, determining personal levels and expectations, setting the goals
- Simulations and role play for development of oral skills
- Teacher generated storytelling and narrative building for development of written skills
- Outdoor language learning
- City hunt
- Art as a stimulus for development of speaking and writing skills (Paolo Freire's approach)
- Learning from the cultural context; inquiry-based projects in small groups
- Learner generated storytelling and narrative building, project-based learning
- Individual support
- Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session
- Teambuilding and networking activities
- City tour or a cultural trip
Learning objectives
- Familiarizing with the culture of English-speaking world.
- Improving the participants’ oral and written skills in English.
- Learning within the cultural context.
- Practical skills development through simulations, role-play, teacher generated storytelling and narrative building.

Methodology & assessment
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.
Certification details
Certificate complies with the guidelines of the Erasmus+ programme and includes the topic, number of didactic hours, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants. In case. A participant requires a specific format of certificate we can accommodate that if requested at least one week before the start of the course. It is necessary to attend at least 80% of the hours in order to receive the certificate.

Course package content:
The course fee includes tuition and materials for the course and all administrative work. There is also one cultural activity for networking and socialising covered by the course fee.
Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves.
We do not charge anything extra apart from the 800 EUR course fee.

Cancellation & changes:
Free cancellation up to 30 days before the start. After that, the reservation is not refundable. Changes in name and profile of the participant are possible any time before the start of the course. In case of extraordinary circumstances, we will offer a free re-scheduling to be used within 6 months.
