Education Trade Unions and Inclusive Schools: Embracing Diversity in Education
Education trade unions are working together to ensure that teachers, academics and other education personnel are adequately prepared and supported in dealing with diverse classrooms and implementing inclusive education. This requires relevant initial and continuous teacher training, as well as the provision of the necessary support in their everyday work.
The two-year project (2019-2021) aimed to develop effective and practical strategies for inclusive education and support national initiatives, with the ultimate goal of working with education personnel and their unions to embrace diversity in education and enhance equality and inclusion.
The project created a Catalogue of Good Practices on Inclusive Schools that includes a wide range of inspiring practices implemented by education trade unions and some examples of national/regional practices and references to European-level projects.
The other outputs include a research report and its three factsheets, a webinars series on addressing the training needs of education personnel for inclusive education, and a collection of testimonies from teachers regarding their experiences in addressing diversity in the classroom and society.
