Mathematics Mastery: Bridging Mathematical Literacy and Citizenship Education

The main aim of this eTwining project is to promote the development of mathematical literacy among participating students. Members will be able to engage in active citizenship and critical thinking skills as they work together in a variety of activities that appear to serve mathematical literacy. In project activities, we will force students to mathematically interpret daily objects and situations and to solve analytical problems. In this process, students will learn to work together by collaborating directly with other students from different countries while finding solutions using mathematical algorithms and logical reasoning, learn how to analyze information from different sources, and develop a stronger sense of European community by realizing the diversity of the EU. In fact, we will perform latent learning. Additionally, making democratic decisions together to celebrate what unites us, for example planning an international mathematics day event on March 14. Throughout the project, students will have the opportunity to connect with other students from different countries, sharing their experiences and results This will promote the exchange of ideas and mutual enrichment, as well as developing communication and teamwork skills. At the end of the project, students will have gained a deeper understanding of mathematical thinking and its practical applications They will also have developed problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity skills, which are fundamental to success in the constantly evolving world. This eTwinning project offers a unique opportunity for students to explore mathematical thinking in a practical and meaningful way, preparing them for the challenges of the 21st century. It also underlines the need to promote common European values by involving young people in various decision-making processes. Schools are a universe where young people learn to be active and responsible citizens through their daily experiences. We will focus on opportunities for students to participate in project management in our eTwinning project, which we will carry out in our schools, which contribute significantly to the development of citizenship knowledge and skills. In our project, we want to put forward a perspective on student participation in decision-making processes and we plan regular online student council meetings every month. For monthly activity analysis, students will discuss the problems in the activity or the improveable aspects of the project in online meetings and in the threads in the forum section of twinspace. Teachers are responsible for guiding students in their mentoring duties. We will create opportunities for students to have practical citizenship education experiences in our project by keeping them active in the democratic decision-making process at every stage of the project.
