Cinematherapy: The Healing Power of Therapeutic Tools

Our project will be addressing SEN youth. We want to contribute to the reduction of the marginalization of SEN youth, as well as to the changing of mentalities and attitudes of other youth and adults towards them. By SEN youth we understand both youth with learning difficulties and with deficiencies, and communication disorders or physical or mental health problems. We want to achieve a good social integration of these youth by directly involving them in the formation of their personal autonomy. Specifically, we will be engaging SEN youth in creative activities, using means of movies and cinema. Why cinema? Because the movies cross the barriers associated with many disabilities and open doors for them to explore, express, exchange and exhibit their opinions and work. Thus, we aim at optimizing the inclusion process of youth with special educational needs, using an interdisciplinary, multilevel approach and involving all actors from the instructionaleducational process: youth, teachers, parents, in all environments: schools, universities, society - NGOs.
