Sustainable schools – A Step by Step approach

The course is intended for teachers and professional associates of pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, principals and other school staff who want to learn and find out how to incorporate the dimensions of sustainability - environmental, social and economic and their interdependence - into their schools and school curricula.

The course is focused on sustainable development, learning, lifestyle and activities that contribute to sustainable development and the preparation and creation of a school curriculum that contains ecological and green projects as well as extracurricular, elective and field activities on the topic of sustainable development. Through the application of practical work, participants will be encouraged to behave in a way that leads to the responsible use of natural resources and energy, as well as other ecological behaviours.

 

The course contents will support the development of all values of sustainable development:

  • knowledge about the functioning and complexity of natural systems
  • knowledge about the consequences of human activities
  • solidarity towards other people
  • responsibility towards the environment, as well as one's own and others' health
  • responsibility towards the entire living environment 

Learning objectives

Learning objectives: 

  • introduce participants to the possibilities of sustainable life and development
  • purposefully apply the Eco Footprint Calculator
  • introduce participants to eTwinning projects on the topic of sustainable development and create new projects
  • exchange ideas, experiences and good practice
  • cooperate with successful implementers of sustainable development
  • include ICT in all activities
  • prepare the school plan for thematic research
  • collaborative analysis
  • consolidate the analysed data and set a School green plan for the implementation of sustainable development in your school

Methodology & assessment

- Consultation between mentors at the hosting and sending organisation
- Filling out the Pre-course survey to tailor the course activities to participants’ needs
- Daily reviews of learning outcomes in the activity “Daily sum-up”
- Filling out the Evaluation Questionnaire at the end of the course

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

We provide a variety of materials and digital tools for an effective learning experience, depending on the course:

Materials: Printouts, textbooks, project kits, art supplies (for creative courses), reference books, and visual maps to support learning.

Digital Tools: Access to an online platform, necessary software, e-books, articles, ICT tools for digital courses, and instructional videos to enhance understanding.

    Included in the Course Package: Complimentary coffee, tea, and snacks; all necessary course materials, including printouts, certificates, and Europass documents; a guided city tour to explore local culture and history; and local transport for course-related activities, such as excursions and workshops.

    Not Included: Meals, accommodation (recommendations provided), airport transfers, additional activities outside the scheduled program, and personal expenses like souvenirs and extra meals.

    Notify us by email if you need to cancel. Options include rescheduling or transferring your spot to a colleague. 

    Refund policies are: More than 4 weeks before the course: 50% of the course cost is retained. Less than 4 weeks before the course: the full amount is retained.
