European Toolkit for Schools: no one left behind
Why a whole-school approach?
In a whole-school approach there is a clear focus on learning for all and achievement does not only translate into academic success. School staff work together and share leadership, and schools collaborate with the local community. Learners and their families also actively participate in decisions about their own learning.
A whole-school approach builds on an inclusive vision of education where all learners can reach their full potential for growth, irrespective of individual and family factors, socio-economic status and life experiences.
The European Toolkit for Schools
The European Toolkit for Schools promotes a whole-school approach to improve inclusiveness and prevent early school leaving. It can help school heads, teachers and others identify their needs in prevention of early school leaving and find suitable solutions.
It is divided into five areas, each with useful information and key points for reflection that have been devised by experts and representatives from ministries of education: general information; school governance; teachers; support to learners; parental involvement; and stakeholders’ involvement.
Registered users of the School Education Gateway can use the Questionnaire tool to explore the resources included in the Toolkit and easily find the ones that correspond to their needs and interests.
The Toolkit is constantly being developed and enriched with new resources that an Editorial Board selects based on certain criteria.
