The FBB partnership designed an online training opportunity for teachers across Europe on the topic of integration of students with learning difficulties. Description
The online course "Breaking down the barriers in inclusive education" helps to meet a real demand in European classrooms where diversity of students is only increasing, making the need for inclusion necessary for proper functioning and optimal progress.
In the1st Module, Educating for diversity we will provide an introduction on various learning difficulties, how they may be spotted in our students and how these may be overcome. It will also focus on the benefits of inclusive education.
In the 2nd Module, Using STEAM as a tool for inclusion we will introduce the participants with the concept of using STEAM education in an inclusive manner.
STEAM education is learner-centered and it requires to involve more than three or more disciplines to teaching. STEAM education in a rich learning environment would definitely account for a positive change in the future of all learners regardless of whether they have learning difficulties.
In the3rd Module, Using Drama as a tool for inclusion in the classroom, we will introduce the participants with the concept of Drama in the Classroom. The principle of inclusion of all students in daily teaching practice is a very simple concept, but may have pragmatic challenges. Our aim is to ensure that teachers/ educators will realize a true inclusion, meaningful and significant for all.
In the 4th Module, Using games to increase emotional intelligence and empathy in the classroom we will introduce the participants with the concept of games to be used in the Classroom to help increase the emotional intelligence and empathy. There will be many group activities focused on developing, enhancing, and maintaining emotional intelligence.
In the 5th Module, Using Sports as a tool for inclusion we will introduce participants to the different sports in which they will be involved, to get know more about benefits of regular physical activity, to raise awareness of the importance of sport for health, how the environment we are in shapes our personality
Learning objectives
This course will enable participants:
- to explore the knowledge and skills needed to work confidently with children and young people who have learning difficulties
- to empower your students by supporting them to identify their own learning styles and abilities
- to make your teaching more relevant and inclusive by personalizing your teaching based on your students’ needs and interests
- to organize group work with your students that enables them to develop 21st century skills such as problem-solving, creativity etc. and enables them to explore new learning spaces
- to use STEAM as a tool for inclusion
- to use Drama as a tool for inclusion in the classroom
- to use games to increase emotional intelligence and empathy in the classroom
- to use Sports as a tool for inclusion
Methodology & assessment
At the end of each module, participants will complete a quiz to assess their understanding of the material. These quizzes are designed to reinforce key concepts and ensure that participants are retaining the information presented.
Certification details
Participants who complete the tasks and answer the final quiz, having at least 70% correct answers, receive a certificate for each module.
