Introduction

National symbols are emblems or objects that represent a country's identity, history, and culture. They can include national flags, coats of arms, animals, plants, monuments, or other significant symbols. Coins are a powerful medium for conveying national pride and identity. By placing national symbols on coins, countries can commemorate important events, honor national heroes, and showcase their unique cultural heritage.

Here are some instructions for pupils on how to write a text for the national symbols

  1. As a group, identify eight national symbols and decide on what coins you are going to put them.
  2. Divide the national symbols within the group (each pupil should have one or two national symbols).
  3. Do a research on your national symbol.
  4. Write the text on a paper or in the electronic form about your national symbol(s).
  5. Make sure to include interesting facts which have to do with:
    • Historical information
    • Cultural significance (= influence on culture and society)
    • Relevance to the European Union and its cultural heritage
  6. Hand in the text to the teacher
  7. Design the symbols at home or during your English or Arts and Crafts classes.
