Analysis of Initial Questionnaire Results for Teachers in the BEE MY FRIEND Project
In February, a questionnaire was administered to the teachers participating in the BEE MY FRIEND project, with 11 out of 13 teachers responding. All respondents were women. The age distribution among the teachers was as follows: 7 were over 46 years old, 3 were between 36 and 45 years old, and 1 was between 26 and 35 years old.
The teaching levels varied, with 8 teachers working in primary schools and 3 in kindergartens. The respondents' teaching experience was diverse: 4 teachers had over 20 years of experience, 4 had been teaching for 11 to 15 years, and 3 had 16 to 20 years of experience.
The subjects taught by these teachers included:
- 1 teacher of religion
- 3 kindergarten teachers
- 1 teacher of mathematics, science, and geography in primary school
- 1 teacher of English as a second language in primary school
- 1 teacher of linguistic, scientific, and technological subjects in primary school
- The remaining teachers taught in primary schools without specifying their subjects
Regarding their expectations for the project, the teachers had varied goals:
- 5 teachers wanted to provide their students with a good experience with their peers
- 4 aimed to have a significant eTwinning experience
- 2 were looking forward to collaborating with new partners
When it came to teaching environmental sustainability, 6 teachers incorporated it into their subjects at least once a month, 4 taught it regularly, and 1 saw this project as an opportunity to introduce it for the first time.
Environmental education was integrated into the school curriculum in different ways:
- 5 teachers' schools included it in the program, allowing them to add it to their subject curriculum
- 4 teachers incorporated it flexibly across various subjects
- 2 teachers had a dedicated subject for environmental education in their schools
Experience with eTwinning projects varied among the teachers:
- 5 had participated in 2 to 5 eTwinning projects
- 4 had participated in more than 5 projects
- 1 teacher was participating in their first project
- 1 had participated in only one previous project
Regarding the quality certificate, teachers' responses indicated different levels of commitment:
- 4 teachers might apply for the quality certificate
- 3 teachers were determined to work hard to obtain it
- 4 teachers planned to apply but prioritized providing a good experience for the children
These responses highlight the teachers' diverse backgrounds and their strong commitment to providing valuable educational experiences through the BEE MY FRIEND project.
