Noèlia Callau

I am Teacher of English with more than 20 years of experience. Currently, I am working in La Cabana School in Les Cabanyes (Barcelona) where I have been teaching in Pre-Primary (ages 3-5) and Primary Education (ages 6-12). Currently, mainly focusing on Third Cycle (ages 10-12) and Pre-Primary (ages 4-5).

I also had the experience of being the Head Teacher of this quiet new School and here was where I started involving in working with Interdisciplinary Projects. Starting a new school from scratch gave me the great chance and challenge to get rid of books and, as it was a small school, to teach English to pupils of different ages within the same cycle. Fourteen years later I am still alive!

I also have a Postgraduate in CLIL from Nottingham University and I participated in a PELE innovation project. Currently, I am in the Core Competences Net and I am involved in the third European Project in the eTwinning Community. I recieved the NQL and the EQL for the first project and the NQL for the second etwinning Project. Now, we are awaiting for the 2nd EQL and we will do our best to ask for the NQL for the 3rd project too. Let's see if we can get both. Fingers crossed!

My wish is to help pupils to improve their language skills by using ICT and PBL; taking into account how neuroscience and kids' emotions influence on their language learning acquisition. Obviously, bearing in mind a good evaluation process where pupils have an important an active role to make them aware of their learning process.

About my organization, La Cabana is a small school in a small town in the "Penedès" region, in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia in Spain.
We are prone to work on Interdisciplinary Projects and we have got a cyclic structure in grouping pupils; that is, we have got pupils from two different ages in the same class. Our average number of pupils per class is, at the most, 18.
We take into account our pupils' needs and interests in the development of classes and currently, we strongly believe in the importance of our pupils' role in the participation of their learning and assessing process.
