This course provides valuable resources and insights to help educators understand the significance of coding and computational thinking and effectively bring them into the classroom. These skills are crucial for students, enhancing their understanding of the world and preparing them for the challenges of the future.

As you learn the fundamentals of coding, you will also discover the EU Code Week initiative, gaining access to a vibrant community and numerous opportunities to connect and grow, and be inspired to create collaborative coding projects with eTwinning.

Learning objectives

In this course, you will

  • develop and demonstrate your understanding of coding and computational thinking concepts and their significance in education by experimenting with coding activities, engaging in dynamic discussions and connecting with the global coding community.
  • explore the history and evolution of ICT by interacting with an AI-powered chatbot, testing coding methodologies and designing coding games that promote creativity and teamwork.
  • integrate coding into interdisciplinary learning by incorporating visual programming languages across subjects, examining eTwinning project examples and engaging in hands-on activities with educational robotics and artificial intelligence.
  • apply acquired knowledge and skills by designing an eTwinning project on coding, evaluating peer work based on defined criteria and reflecting on the planning and development process of the final activity.

Methodology & assessment

The course is offered as an asynchronous course with flexibility in regard to when and where participants follow the course content and join the course activities. However, there is a final deadline in place for the submission of a course product. Participants are required to actively contribute to the course activities by sharing their work and submitting a course product. This product is submitted and assessed by peers or the course instructor in the final module of the course.

Certification details

Upon successful completion of the course, a digital course certificate is awarded. The certificate shows the name of the learner and key course details such as the estimated learning hours, the learning objectives, and a link to the course homepage.
