Waste Lycée Arago

We found ideas to work on during our next workshop session :
> Install recycling bins.
> Install a compost in our high-school.
> Make a vegetable garden.
> Try to replace plastic felts with wooden pencils.
> Send or exchange our old clothes or toys in the high-school.
> Transfer heat from data centers to classrooms.
> Install recycling bin for old clothing.
- 16 february 2023 :
We make a check-list with those elements :
> Make a poster about the use of wooden pencils
> Send a message to the professors about the use of wooden pencils
> Send a message to the professors about the the futur recycling bins
> Go in all the classrooms to check the real number of recycling bins
We start the "visit" of the classrooms.
- 09 march 2023 :
We discovered the planning of our first student meeting and we did several thing to continued projects that we had :
> We continued the "visit" of the classroom to look for the number of recycling bins that we will have needs.
> We write the message to send to the professors about the use of wooden pencils.
> We start (just a little) the poster about the use of wooden pencils.
- 16 march 2023 :
We spoke with the officier in charge of the waste, Mr.Fonteneau and we learnt this :
> We haven't compost in our high-school (and it will be hard to install one).
> The wastes are sorted by the officiers : paper and the rest.
> Paper are sent (with the bag) in the recycle bins then to the richbour society.
> Paper said "flat" (not a paper ball) is sorted differently the the crumpled paper.
> Our recycle bins cost 70€ for 30 bins.
> The high-school pay the agglomeration for the waste collection.
> The officier in charge didn't know that there is no enough recycle bins.
For the "green wastes" :
> The officiers collect more than 1,5 tonnes of leaves.
> The canteen organic waste are sent to the grey bins.
- 6 april 2023 :
We started the design of posters for the utilisation of wooden pencils.
- 13 april 2023 :
We continued the design of the posters; we did statistics about informatic skills; we did a breffing about our travel to Strasbourg.
For this first year, the group
- calculated how many plastic pens were used by teachers in the school in 2022 and wrote a message to offer our school teachers to change from plastic pens to ecological wooden pencils to write on white boards
- met the technical staff manager of the school to ask him questions about waste management in the school
- made a survey in every classroom to check if there was a paper bin and ask the school staff to provide new paper bins for the classrooms that didn't have one.
Our ideas for next year:
- install a composting system at the lycée
- install a henhouse and chickens (fed by our food waste from the canteen)
- set up a vegetable garden
- organise a second-hand stall at the school
- 20 april 2023 :
We start working on a poll about the use of wooden pencil in the high school.
- 28 september 2023 :
We worked about the science party and asked ourselves what question can we ask to young people about waste.

Pour faire mes devoirs, j'utilise :
- a) Stylo jetable et blanco
- b) Stylo-plume, porte-mine et gomme
- c) Crayon et gomme
Je veut boire un jus de fruit je prend :
- a) Des petites briques en carton
- b) Une bouteille en plastique
- c) Une bouteille en verre
La bouteille en verre produit le plus de CO2 à sa création, mais peut ensuite être réutilisée durant une très longue période, tandis que les bouteilles en plastiques et les briques en carton consommes moins à la création mais sont plus difficilement réutilisable.
Pour lire un livre je vais :
- a) En acheter un sur internet, ou sur une liseuse
- b) Acheter un livre dans une librairie indépendante
- c) A la médiathèque
Un livre "palpable", un livre papier peut se conserver plusieurs millions d'années, n'a pas besoin d'apport en électricité.
Je vais faire mes courses, pour les porter je prends :
- a) Des sacs en plastique à usage unique
- b) Des sacs en plastique réutilisable
- c) Des sacs en tissus, tote-bag, tupperware et bocaux
Tout ce qu'il faut pour n'avoir besoin de rien et ne pas créer de nouveaux déchets.
Demain j'ai un pique-nique avec l'école :
- Je vais acheter des chips et des sandwichs triangle au supermarché
- Je vais pouvoir manger mon sandwich préféré de chez le boulanger
- Avec mes parents, on va préparer ma salade composée préférée
