As part of the Life-IP Ekomałopolska project, the County Office in Nowy Targ organised another lecture entitled "Marshes, climate, people". It was given by Wiktor Kotowski, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Warsaw working in the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection. We learned what role bogs play in the terrestrial ecosystem, how bogs can be restored, and why maintaining them in their natural state is so important for people (especially in times of a changing climate). The lecture was illustrated with many colourful photographs from various parts of the world, as the Professor sits on the Ramsar Wetlands Committee and has been piloting issues on a large scale, concerning the impact of wetlands on the climate. In addition to a dose of solid knowledge - we already know what paliduculture is - the lecture allowed us to reflect for a moment.
