During this class the students will look at the influences and consequenses of light pollution on nature from a biological perspective. The students learn about the effect of light pollution on animals and humans. They gain insight into this through 'corner work': in each corner of the class, a different insight is revealed.

The main learning objectives of the lesson plan are:

  • Students gain insights into the problem of light pollution from perspective of  biology.
  • The students realize that light pollution negatively affects animals.
  • The students realize that light pollution negatively affects humans.
  • Students can list effects of light pollution on animals.
  • Students can list effects of light pollution on humans.
  • Students can complete the conclusion about the effects of light pollution on plants, animals and people.

 

This lesson was given mid-February to students of the Modern Languages-Sciences option at the Spectrum College Campus Beringen Middenschool.
