Trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) in education: Promises and challenges
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), education faces two challenges: using AI to enhance educational processes and improving students’ digital competence.
There are many examples of promising uses of AI that show how it could be used to transform education. This paper outlines how AI can be used in the classroom to accelerate personalised learning and at system level to reduce dropout. Reaching the full potential of AI requires stakeholders to trust not only the technology, but also its use by humans. This brings into question the trustworthiness of AI regarding privacy, security of data and misuse of data.
