Being A STEAM Master Is Not About Gender!

Before the mobility of our Erasmus+ project, which was selected as a consortium member within the scope of the 2023-2024 Academic Year Erasmus+ School Education Accreditation; It is aimed to develop an e-Twinning project together with our national and international partners in order to introduce and disseminate our project and to make preliminary preparations with our students. Due to the financial/moral disadvantages of the neighborhood where our school is located and the families of our students; Our students do not have the opportunity to receive education anywhere other than school. Therefore, it is very important for teachers to get rid of the classical education approach taught through textbooks and adopt innovative education methods. Another disadvantage seen around our school is that girls cannot continue their education, are married at a young age, and have no mentors/models in the field of science. This prevents the issue of gender equality in STEAM, which is the target topic specified by the Ministry of Education. That's why our project, before/after the project in line with the Goals; Result evaluations will be made by applying pre-tests and post-tests to students/teachers/parents, and process evaluation will be carried out with the digital portfolio created in cooperation with students and teachers. What the concept of STEAM means, what sub-dimensions it is divided into and how these dimensions can be integrated into our courses; will be experienced practically. Thanks to our foreign founding partner and other partners who will be involved in the project, STEAM representations in different countries will be examined, research on gender equality in STEAM will be conducted, and all students and teachers participating in the project will gain a great deal of knowledge. At the same time, with the activities carried out during the process, students' high-level thinking skills will be developed and they will be enabled to develop positive attitudes towards STEAM content courses such as science and mathematics.
