Different languages, one world

The proposed short-term project is devoted to the celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity of the European countries. The overall goal is to bring our students to understanding that despite the differences in our cultural identities, our national and economic backgrounds we are all citizens of Europe. We have many things in common and there are no barriers if we want to communicate and to exchange information and ideas. Initially, the project is conceived by the partners from France, Portugal, Italy and Romany. In case of approval we will try to attract more European partners to its realization. Special attention will be paid to differentiating the activities proposed to our students in order to engage the students with learning difficulties and have them succeed. Through the all embracing notion of “European Citizen” we will acknowledge different students’ backgrounds, encourage them to respect and value the differences between us. The starting point of the project will become the celebration of the European Day of Languages on the 26th of September 2017. After that, the students will explore the culinary variety of our cultures and exchange their favorite recipes. They will go on investigating the work force market of their home countries in order to identify what job positions are available for people speaking foreign languages in their countries. Sharing the results of their surveys will allow them to get a clear vision of the world of work in their countries and abroad and to understand the importance of language learning. We will finish the project in December by exchanging the Christmas cards and wishes in their native languages in and English.
