Friendships formed in Djakovo

My name is Amiena Njie, and about a month ago I was lucky enough to be part of an amazing Erasmus+ experience in Djakovo in Croatia. We stayed for a week, but still I left being a different version of myself than I was before then.

Being able to meet people of my age from all over Europe was in itself so beautiful. I wouldn’t say I’m a person of prejudice, but of course as humans do, I had made some expectations up in my head to prepare myself. I quickly learned that the other children weren’t so different from me and my classmates. Sure we had cultural differences, different norms and values. But just like we were, they were also curious and open to get to know us.

And of course the cultural differences may be the most important things about these projects. And they were, it was nice to meet people with totally different perspectives and ideas than you already know. And to learn that your perspective and experiences in life may also be very unique to them.

Therefore I really appreciated getting to know them and I still try to keep in touch with them through social media.

The story of Kaim

Whenever I go somewhere new I am always looking to make new friends.

So when I got a chance to go on a trip with Ermasmus+ I couldn’t have been more exited!

After we arrived at the airport and got on our bus going to Adana everyone was very tired. Every country was in their own little group and nobody talked to eachother.

To randomly start talking to people is a little hard but we were in luck because one of my fellow students already went on a trip and knew some people from his last trip. After some days we really got to know the group and I got to make new friends, we exchanged our instagram names (yep, that’s how the youth does it nowadays) and before we knew this beautiful experience already came to an end. After we said goodbye to our lovely host family we went to the school to see our newly made friends for the last time, after some tears here and there we were on our way home.

Friendship:

My trip to Croatia really gave me fine opportunities to make new friends. During all the group activities, everyone was working together with each other. It was very nice that every individual from the different countries tried to communicate and talk in English. This way we were all able to connect. Personally I had some good interactions with some people from Croatia and Poland. Overall everyone was really kind. It was an amazing experience, one I really miss and will cherish. A big thank you to everyone.

Hy everyone!

I’m Massimo and I would love to share my experiences from my Erasmus+ trips with you!

I’ve been to 3 Erasmus+ trips yet and I can honestly tell you, THEY WERE AMAZING!

I loved every singel second of every trips that I’ve made so far and that is mostly thanks to the amazing people that I’ve got to meet and the new friendships we have formed.

The first time, I went to Portugal. I was extremely nervous about everything because I just didn’t know what I was getting myself into. When we arrived at the school I could just feel the amazing hospitality of the people that were there to welcome us at their school. (Spoiler alert: this was also the case in the 2 other countries I’ve been lucky enough to visit). During the week of our stay, we bounded more and more  every day and when the final day of the week eventually arrived, we were all so sad to leave. The tension of new and loving emotions that this simple week held within me, all bursted at the end which in the long run created an even stronger connection with those once ‘new’ people. This is the best I can do to describe the feeling I felt for the Erasmus+ trips that have since changed my life forever. The feeling of gratitude and wholeness one can get from simply seeing and experiencing something completely new, interestingly unlocks a powerfull euphoric feeling in your heart.

Thanks for listening to my experience and I hope you can feel what I felt during my wonderful time away.
