The course provides educators with practical skills and teaching ideas for Outdoor Education and an opportunity to visit an Irish school and to exchange ideas and develop links with teachers from Ireland and other European countries.

Description
- Forest School Teacher Skills Training by Forest School Ireland. Introduction to Forest School approach to learning outdoors and practical training to give teachers the skills they need to run Forest School sessions with students of all ages
- Observe a Forest School session for primary school pupils
- Visit an outdoor activity centre: Team development & outdoor activities training
- Lecture on the Irish Education System
- Visit a primary school (ages 4-12) which engages in Forest School and Green Schools Activities
- Visit National Botanic Gardens. Introduction to their work with primary & secondary schools. Visit the Education Garden. Biodiversity tour of native and exotic plants
- Introduction to Gaelic Sports
- A walking tour of Dublin and cultural visits
Learning objectives
The course provides educators with:

Methodology & assessment
- Courses are delivered by experts in Outdoor Education
- Trainers are native English speakers
- Practical outdoor workshops are tailored to the participants’ training needs
- Teachers will be encouraged to share their own ideas and experiences and tasks designed for outdoor education
- Collaborative working
- Feedback and guidance from trainers
- At the end of the course teachers participate in a detailed evaluation of the course

Certification details
- A certificate of attendance (stating course title, location, dates, content, learning outcomes and number of hours) will be provided as required by the Quality standards for courses under Key Action 1
