Innovation, Education and Creativity with eTwinning: Spring Campaign 2023

This year’s Spring Campaign ran from 1 March to 7 April, focusing on the relevant topics related to this year’s annual theme: Innovation and Education. Webinar and activities revolved around key topics such as well-being, artificial intelligence and media literacy.
Spring Campaign wrap up

Throughout the campaign, eTwinners had access to resources on the group, participated in webinars on key subtopics of the annual theme and found examples of innovative practices on social media; they even shared their own innovative practices with other eTwinners on social media.

Before even accessing the group on the European School Education Platform, participants could take a self-assessment quiz to find out how innovative they are in their everyday work. When first accessing the group, participants had access to an interactive library that was filled with resources and activities, and even included a creative corner.

The main topics covered by the resources included social and pedagogical innovation, well-being and artificial intelligence.

As part of the campaign, we ran three webinars that were all focused on the subtopics related to the annual theme.

The first webinar, Tackling Disinformation and Promoting Digital Literacy, featured speakers Simona Petkova, Policy Assistant at DG EAC, and Kari Kivinen, Education Outreach Expert. Kivinen and Petkova explored how teachers can empower young people to make informed choices in the digital age. As guidance, they explained the new Digital Education Action Plan released by the European Commission last October. They explained how the guidelines can be used directly in their classrooms to promote their students’ digital literacy.

Kornélia Lohyňová, eTwinning Ambassador and moderator of eTwinning featured group ‘Entrepreneurship in Education’, hosted the second webinar on How to Create a School Environment for Well-being. Lohyňová explained current trends on teacher well-being and outlined how teacher well-being is crucial for students’ emotional and social development. She emphasised the importance of physical well-being, suggesting to teachers that they should encourage physical movement in the classroom and make time for outside learning and active play.

The final webinar entitled Artificial Intelligence in Education: Does it Undermine or Support Education? gave participants an easily digestible introduction to artificial intelligence. Speakers Daniela Hau, Clare Flammang and Clause Reuter all work at the SCRIPT (Service de Coordination de la Recherche et de l'Innovation pédagogiques et technologiques). They made the concept of AI less foreign to the teachers by showing them how they are already using it in their classroom and how it be can used to unlock student potential.

Thank you to all eTwinners for your participation in the campaign. Make sure to stay tuned for more webinars and activities to keep being innovative all year round!
