WANTED: The Scariest European Monster

In this project students will learn in a fun way about folklore characters from all over Europe. Similarities and differences will arise! The project will expand their cultural awareness and writing skills. Creative skills will also be challenged because the students will have to draw, paint or make a mask of a scary creature from their countries's folklore.

Booklet

Dear all,

should we move on to making the booklet and finish the project?

Are you planning to ask your students to take part in the book making or are you going to do it yourselves?

Let me know!

Video call

Dear all,

I've created a video call page. Let's meet today between 12 and 12:30 CET time to announce the winners.

I think the time will be OK only for me and Clara. It's going to be my first call in the eTwinning platform, but hopefully I'll be able to record it.

After the call, I'll upload the video and a screenshot of our voting results.

Then I'm going to add our winner to the Mentimeter chart.

Although I'm sure my students won't be the winners :D, I've really enjoyed this project!

Let's not forget we still have an ebook to make! Looking forward to that too.

See (some of) you later!

Antonia

Announcing the winners

Dear all,

I think it would be great if we can involve our students in the announcing of the winners. So yes, when I wrote "a video call", I meant a call with students. If you don't have a lesson with them, I think you can just take them from another lesson for 10 minutes. At least in our school that wouldn't be a problem. I hope your schools are also as project friendly as ours.

Two people have selected a suitable time in Doodle. That's great! Let's just meet online and announce the winning mask. I'll wait until Saturday for more responses and then I'll make an online meeting for you. 12:00 - 1:00 seems like the best time for us for now. My fifth lesson ends at 12:35 and my sixth one starts at 12:45. Of course we can also meet in the break between. Let me know in the comments here what's best for you.

To me, the best time is 12:00 - 12:20 and the second best is 12:45 - 13:00 but I can be flexible.

Those of you who can't make it: can you post a video of your students announcing the winners on Monday or on Tuesday morning? That would work great too. And we can actually record our video call and send it to you.

And yes, we can have a Mentimeter chart which we can post here and in our school websites. In fact, I can just make one now. Here's the link:

Let me know if you have any more questions or ideas.

Project pages + are more masks coming?

Dear all,

thank you for the idea of putting your work in a page. I can tell you have more eTwinning experience than me. :) I also put my files in a page so that anyone on eTwinning can see the results of our work.

Your masks are amazing! Your students have really done a great job. I hope mine will be inspired by them too.

Is anyone else going to put up their masks? Please let me know so that we can start voting.

Masks sent

Dear all,

I have just uploaded our masks and descriptions here. Sorry for being late - I've been extremely busy.

You'll find them in Materials > Files > Teachers > Czech Masks and Descriptions.

Here's a shortcut. I hope it will work:

https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/cs/etwinning/projects/wanted-scariest-european-monster/twinspace/materials/files/301256

Could you please make your own folder under Teachers and upload yours too?

I was thinking you could download all masks and then select one that you think is the best. Or - even better - you select it with your students!

All other masks would of course be featured in the ebook.

Looking forward to your masks. Ideally we should open voting next Monday.

Let's do it!

New member

Dear all,

I have invited Carla Sanchez to our project. Our team is getting even more international which makes me even happier. :))

Project Progress

Dear all,

my students are almost done with their descriptions. They're going to do their masks on Friday which means I'm going to send each one of you one mask and one description next Monday - 16 October.

How is it going with you?

Our descriptions are quite short so you don't need to encourage your students to have a very detailed one. :) My 6th graders found it quite challenging to write a text. They're really not used to writing a lot but with my help they managed their task.

Once each of us receives 6 masks and we're waiting for Halloween to come, holding a voting in the meantime, we can work on the ebook, if we have time in our classes. The ebook is not very time-sensitive but I think it would be great if we finish it soon too.

Have a nice week!

Antonia

Welcome all!

Welcome all and thank you for participating in my project!

I have added a Project Description page with detailed info about the project.

We should have created our masks and monster descriptions and sent them by 20 October. Are you all okay with this deadline? And do you have any budget that allows you to send letters with masks inside?

If you have no budget, let's just scan and send the masks. Let me know what you think please!

Looking forward to your monsters!

Antonia
