The National Day of the European Climate Pact and the EkoVizija competition - award to the project Schoolyard resistant to Climate Change
Dear partners,
we are delighted to announce the news about the award for our students' project "Schoolyard resistant to Climate Change" based on and inspired by the work on our eTwinning project "Living with the Climate Change"!
The "Schoolyard resistant to Climate Change" project was rated as one of the most successful projects and won an award at the EkoVizija competition. It is a competition for the best students' project about solving climate problems in the local community called "EcoVision: Innovative solutions for the future of the planet" organized by the Society for the Design of Sustainable Development (DOOR) in cooperation with the Croatian Debate Society. The "Schoolyard resistant to Climate Change" project, which was designed by Mila, a seventh-grade student (participant of our eTwinning project) with the mentorship of teacher Iva Naranđa, was selected as one of the most creative, feasible and sustainable project ideas received through the EkoVizija competition. The winners of the competition were invited to the National Day of the European Climate Pact, which took place on Friday, 19 April, 2024, as part of Earth Day at the House of Europe in Zagreb, with the ceremonial announcement of the winners of „EkoVizija“ and the presentation of the awarded projects.
In addition to the presentation of the award-winning projects, climate ambassadors were presented and the panel "The climate is in our hands - let's keep the warming below 1.5 degrees" was held, which was attended by distinguished guests who have been dealing with climate issues for years and whose students were able to ask questions about the climate and environment. An Eco pub quiz was held for students as the final event of the National Day of the European Climate Pact.
Marijmapolės Petro Armino progimnazija, Lithuania
Students from Lithuania were searching for information about bird feeders and houses. We have cold winters in Lithuania, for this reason our school students take care of them for making birds houses and birds feeders. There are some pictures there students take care of birds in winter at our school.
The Earth Day in Sokolowice, Poland
This year's the Earth Day celebrations were very special. We set up our class gardens under the slogan: "Let's take care of our Earth to eat healthy and colourful" and also launched a competition for ideas on how to make changes in our facility to reduce plastic. The results exceeded our expectations. Photo report attached.
Aristotelio Students Celebrated Earth Day 2024 as it deserved to be celebrated!!!
"Planting a tree on Earth Day holds profound significance in our collective effort to combat climate change and preserve our planet's biodiversity. Trees act as Earth's lungs, absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, thereby helping to mitigate global warming. They also provide critical habitats for wildlife, support water cycles by preventing soil erosion, and contribute to the beauty and tranquility of our landscapes. By planting a tree today, you contribute to a greener, more sustainable future, setting an example for others and reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship. It's a small action with a big impact, reminding us that every individual has the power to make a positive difference for the planet we all share.Planting a tree is an act of hope for the future, a promise to nourish life, and a gift to generations yet to come!!!"
