April activities

Pinned

Dear partners,
the time is flying! Here are guidelines for our April activities:

1) We will schedule an online meeting

2) We will start a Twinspace Forum for students to share their preferred activities.

STUDENT'S CORNER - What do you like in this project?

3) We will create a common project presentation: each school will prepare a short description of their activities with photos, videos and text description in a shared presentation in Canva. The cover page of each activity will be created by a partner school using AI text to image generation tool. Optional: creation of a short poem or a song to introduce the activity, also created by AI.

Celebrating Earth Day 2024, 1st Arsakeio Junior High School of Psychico

On Earth Day 2024, 22 of April, the students of 1st Arsakeio Junior High School of Psychico navigated the site https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2024/ and joined the movement to honor and celebrate our remarkable planet on this extraordinary day. Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future.
They also participated in the Twinspace Forum for students "What do you like in this project?" and shared their preferred activities.
They continue to work on the topic "Climate change and oceans".

8th P.S. Kifissia - From Story to Science: Navigating the World of Biodiversity, Pollinators, and Climate Action-PART 2: Investigating the role of pollinators

The first group, Thaleia, Marietta, Eleni and Fenia, in terms of investigating the role of pollinators in climate change and biodiversity created a game on Scratch where a bee, if manages to pollinate all the flowers, sends an important message about biodiversity!

Hope you like it!

The second group, Elias, Faidra, Sofia and George, in terms of the decline of bees, has created an animation functioning as a teaser to address the causes of declining bee populations and to prepare the ground for the solutions they will propose in the third part for bee conservation!

The third group, Tzortzis, Thanos, Thaleia, Louiza, and Dina, used microbit to measure outside temperature. Students -along with the poster that painted- went to their school yard to measure the outside temperature, since it  impacts directly pollinators.

Coding for Climate with a sustainable lamp

The students of the 8th Primary School of Nea Filadelfeia, Athens, created a smart lamp that, when a switch is pressed, starts playing music and turns on only if the light level in the room is sufficiently low. They used the BBC micro:bit and the Nezha robotic kit. A smart lamp for a sustainable solution.

Coding 4 Climate

Celebrate "Earth Day 2024" by participating in the action Coding4Climate

The students from 3rd Junior High School of Kifissia, are celebrating "Earth Day 2024" by participating in the action Coding4Climate in Ocean League (https://coding4climate.org/ ). They created a solution for Biodiversity loss, made in Scratch, for the protection of the Sea Turtles. The project is tracking the routes the Sea Turtles follow, through real Satellites’ data, around Poilão, an island in Africa.
