Learn & Play

This project is created in order to explore the role of educational games on learning a foreign language, and to compare games with more traditional practices. Games that engage both mind and body by targeting users’ verbal and kinesthetic intelligence have the potential to transform the activity of learning across a wide variety of domains. To investigate this potential in the context of second language learning, we will work on the five main aspects of learning a foreign language: Reading, writing, speaking, listening and English in use. Using games in the classroom is proven to be beneficial for several reasons: First of all, games add a welcome diversion from the normal activities of the class. This allows students to let off steam and to feel better in their learning environment. What is more, games lower the students’ level of stress and anxiety, thereby improving the acquisition of language.
