Project Introduction
Our project is based on four activities that include different materials (wood, wool, cloth and clay). Each school will make in their class four chests with these materials and they will work with them during the next school year. At the end of the project, using all the products, the pupils will create a layout that refers to their country and their traditions.
We are working everyday with different objects that are made of different materials. Do the children know information about wood, clay, wool and other materials that are used in our everyday life? Do they know that they are eating from a plate that is made of clay? Do they know that the pencil is made of wood and the clothes are made of different materials? Do they know that the silk is expensive and hard to find? We can try to find answers to these questions and develop our project that has a significant name "BACK TO ORIGINS". We start from the past, when our grandparents didn't had so many things, when the times were harder then now and you couldn't find so many things that you are able to buy now. We create 4 chests in our school and learn about four different materials (wood, wool, clay, plant fibres). We start to find where are they came from, what can we do with them and how useful are the things that are made of wood, wool, clay and plant fibres. We give children those materials and let them experiment and play with. Then, learning through discovery, he will be able to use all the materials in order to create original products.
