You can find some evidence of the work done by our students below.

Lycée Michelet (France)

STEP 1: the students attended two lessons about Adam Smith and the wealth of nations with their economics & social sciences teacher Ms Bouwet. They completed a worksheet created for this purpose by Ms Bouwet.

STEP 2: the students used what they had learned in their economics class to create with some presentations about Adam Smithtogether with their European partners. They gave a talk in class which was peer-assessed and teacher-assessed using the rubric on page 7.

Presentation creation. Firstly, our students researched about Adam Smith, chose the topic they were going to focus on and created the Canva presentation together with their international team mates. They had to fill in a journal to provide self assessment that was complemented by their teacher's grading.

Presentations. The next step consisted of presenting their final products to their classmates who, together with their teacher, assessed them through a given rubric.

Presenting products at Economics class. Students' presentations were the prompts to discuss Adam Smith, his work, capitalism and consumerism at their Economics class. They established a discussion about all of it with their Economics teacher, who helped them understand Smith's work and importance. Thanks, Manuela!

In our school students don't study economics, ADAM SMITH is part of the programme of Human Sciences but not of the second year, so the teacher anticipated the presentation of the outstanding figure and gave them some clues to understand his thoughts beforehand

So this was the First step

Second step: THE CHOICE OF THE TOPIC

In order to make it easy and interesting we together decided to focus on the relationship between Consumerism and Advertisingwhich still affects the whole of us still today. In addition we planned a CLIL module which followed the steps of the project.

And here are 2 very significant comments by the students:

"I really liked these activities, because we could also use the English language in other subjects such as maths, physics, economics, or history.

The activity that interested me most of all was Adam Smith because I understood how the market works,  and my group and I could invent our slogan.

I also learnt new information and I learnt how to use canva and other tools.

For me it was an educational experience"

“My favorite activity was the one on Adam Smith. I really like this project because we have also worked in other subjects and it was all interesting. The project about Adam Smith was also challenging becuase it isn't part of the school program and without the help of the teacher of human sciences it would have been very difficult “
