So many colors, so many shapes: Let's get together and make a global rainbow!

Our school is called upon every day to face challenges related to the smooth integration of students with an immigrant background into the Cypriot education system. Due to the continuous increase in the number of incoming students from various countries, the development and implementation of coordinated intervention measures is deemed more necessary than ever. These will promote their smooth integration, to ensure quality and effective education, given the detailed program of the various academic subjects, dealing with the progressively increasing social individualism in an organized and methodical way. More specifically, we prioritized 2 main strategic axes. The 2nd is directly related to the 1st, but also works independently: (1) Inclusion of all students in the learning process, but also diversity, with an emphasis on the management of delinquent behaviours, as well as bullying. This includes issues around the multicultural principle/education. The fact that year after year the population of refugees and immigrants, mainly economic immigrants, increases in our school, the need for training becomes imperative. The goal is to realize the limits of each of us, to understand other ways of interpreting the world, to reduce xenophobia & racism, to create a culture for harmonious coexistence. A starting point for the management of otherness is that interest is focused on children's "gains" from school. Otherness is of interest to us to the extent that it can be an educational capital and be utilized in the form of functional supplies and qualifications for life. (2) Digital reform. Specifically, it is considered necessary to improve the knowledge-skills around new technologies and their effective use and application in the classrooms, in the various subjects, the various teaching methods. For our purposes, we are asked to make use of the syllabus, the extracurricular, the possibilities of the teachers, the specific students, the school and social context. Regarding the 2 axes, we hope for the following: - acquisition of current theoretical knowledge in matters of multiculturalism and digital technology, as well as contemporary, innovative teaching methods, as well as practical ways so that we can use them cross-curricularly to manage and improve the school climate. What is of main interest here is the way in which they will contribute to solving problems we face in our educational everyday life. The knowledge has to do with: techniques for preventing, identifying, and dealing with problematic behaviours. - contact with other foreign educational systems, through the exchange of experiences with colleagues who will participate in the various mobilities and information on good practices in the management of delinquent behaviours, the inclusion of all students in the activities of the school unit and the integration of new technologies in the classrooms -finding innovative approaches that will contribute positively to differentiated learning, collaborative, and exploratory approach. - raising awareness of all involved (teachers, students, parents) regarding the principles that should govern a multicultural society.
