TOGETHER WE STAND

According to the United Nations, Hate Speech is defined as “any kind of communication in speech, writing or behavior that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are”. This generates intolerance and hatred and, in certain contexts, can stigmatize the victims. The phenomenon is wide spread today as it has been reported on nearly every country and is of great concern among teenagers. Social media communication as people have moved online, experts say, has given individuals inclined towards unsocial behavior the chance to reinforce their views and act violently. It is urgent that teenagers “stand together” becoming aware of the phenomenon, think critically and act expressing solidarity towards the victims.
