Which innovative green education projects have you implemented in your learning environment? The EU's Education for Climate platform is looking for contributions in 3 thematic areas, building on the community's 2026 priority of Intergenerational Fairness. 

Thematic areas for projects

Do you run or host an innovative education project?  Share your project on one of the three topics below and you could be invited to take part in the event in Brussels on 22 October 2026!

1. Youth leadership and intergenerational dialogue for climate action 

This theme focuses on projects that empower young people to take an active role in climate and sustainability action while supporting schools as living environments for sustainability. It highlights projects where learners, educators, families, local authorities, civil society organisations and other community actors work together to embed green values and practices into everyday school life. 

2. Citizenship education and institutional action for sustainability 

This theme focuses on projects that support citizens, learners and communities to understand, discuss and act on green and sustainability issues. It is open to projects led by civil society organisations, companies, public institutions, researchers, cultural actors, non-formal education providers or other organisations working to make sustainability education more accessible and action oriented. 

3. GreenComp: envisioning sustainable futures in teaching and learning 

This theme focuses on projects that bring the GreenComp framework into practice, with particular attention to the competence area of envisioning sustainable futures. It highlights projects that help learners imagine possible futures, understand the long-term consequences of today’s choices and develop the competences needed to contribute to more sustainable pathways.

Submit your ideas before 6 September 2026. Three projects per theme will be selected to present their work and discuss the outcomes at the Education for Climate Day 2026.

The representatives of the selected projects will be provided a fully funded visit to Brussels for the Education for Climate Day 2026  on 22 October to participate in the hybrid sessions and enjoy an opportunity to interact with the other participants from across the European Education Area active in climate education.
