During the webinar organised within the eTwinning featured group ‘Mathematics, science and other STEM topics’, the teams behind two exceptional and innovative eTwinning projects, Code of Mystery and SAGE: Solutions Against Greenhouse Effect (Erasmus+), share their experiences, challenges, and successes. These projects explore mathematics, demonstrating the power of collaborative and interdisciplinary learning.

Mathematics can be difficult, but Code of Mystery transformed it into an engaging adventure. Involving eight teachers and over a hundred students, the project promoted logical reasoning, problem-solving, and creativity. By creating a virtual escape room filled with logic games and puzzles, students learned mathematics in an interactive way while enhancing their English skills. The webinar highlights the project's strengths, challenges, and enjoyable moments. The project "Solutions Against Greenhouse Effect (SAGE)" addressed climate change by providing students with scientific knowledge to combat misinformation. Concentrating on transportation-related emissions, students conducted research, analysed temperature and rainfall data, and performed experiments on the greenhouse effect. The webinar demonstrates how hands-on learning helped students understand environmental issues and develop critical thinking skills.

About the speakers

Nevin Bilgiçli

Nevin Bilgiçli is a Maths teacher at Kirrikale High School in Türkiye. She has 17 years of experience as a Mathematics teacher and she has PHD on pure mathematics too. She is the founder of the “Code of Mystery” project, which received the 2024 eTwinning European award in the 16-19 age category.

Gabriela Svobodová

Gabriela Svobodová, a Maths and ICT teacher from the Czech Republic, has been teaching since 1996 and she specialized in project-based learning. Since 2019, she has been actively involved in eTwinning, becoming an ambassador last year. eTwinning allows her to collaborate internationally, helping students develop cooperation and responsibility. Her efforts earned several quality labels and the European eTwinning Award in 2024 for the Code of Mystery project.

Monika Polanska

Monika Polanska is a teacher of Mathematics, statistics, chemistry and computer science at a secondary vocational school of economics in Slovakia, with 20 years of experience. She likes to implement project-based learning and digital technologies in her teaching. She involves her students in international cooperation in eTwinning projects. She uses CLIL and STEM pedagogical approaches in her education.

Jean-Noël Pédeutour

Jean-Noël Pédeutour teaches Mathematics and Physics in a vocational school in south west of France. He is an eTwinning ambassador since 2012. Thanks to this experience, he is convinced that project pedagogy is one of the best ways to motivate and engage students in their learning of scientific and technologic subjects.

Tatjana Gulič

Tatjana Gulič is a retired teacher of Physics, Mathematics, and ICT. As the author of Physics textbooks, she has contributed to making these subjects more understandable for numerous students. For more than ten years, she was an eTwinning ambassador and received many awards for her projects, both in Slovenia and across Europe.

Enrica Maragliano
