INTEGRATION IN THE CURRICULUM OF ENGLISH 1º BACH

 

This project is integrated within the curriculum of English as a Foreign Language for 1st Bachillerato (see official curriculum): link to the official curriculum 

 

- it fosters: 

  • Two dimensions of multilingualism: the communicative dimension and the intercultural dimension.
  • a better use of  digital environments and access the cultures , both as a driving force for education and learning, as well as a source of information.
  • a greater development of communicative activities and strategies of comprehension, production, interaction and mediation when working in transnational groups
  • the specific competences of this subject also include a deeper understanding of the knowledge necessary to manage intercultural situations, and the critical assessment and adequacy to linguistic, artistic and cultural diversity with the aim of promoting mutual understanding and contributing to the development of a shared European culture.

- includes "Saberes" from the three blocks:

  • The "Communication" block includes all the knowledge that needs to be mobilized for the development of linguistic activities such as comprehension, production, interaction and mediation, including those related to searching, selecting and contrasting sources of information and managing them
  • The "Plurilingualism" block integrates knowledge related to the ability to reflect on the functioning of languages, in order to contribute to learning the foreign language and improving the languages that make up the students' linguistic repertoire
  • the "Interculturality" block, knowledge about cultures conveyed through the foreign language is grouped, highlighting their importance as a means of communication and understanding between peoples, facilitating access to other cultures

INTEGRATION IN THE SCHOOLS' OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION - FINLAND 

 

This project is very well integrated in both National Core Curriculum and the curriculum of Seinäjoen lyseo. Several aspects of compulsory subjects as well as wide-ranging expertise were covered during the school year.

 

International cooperation: 

 

  • encouraged pupils to interact and express themselves with different languages and improved their communication skills

  • developed their language skills as well as general knowledge about other countries and cultures 

  • increased pupils’ language awareness

  • developed the pupils’ identity as an international actor 

  • reinforced pupils’ social and civic skills  

  • increased pupils’ cooperation and teamwork competence 

  • improved pupils’ capabilities to use ICT and electronic learning environments in their own classroom as well as in the context of international cooperation 

  • helped the pupils become more aware of their own and other cultures and quided them to treat other people with respect and to follow good manners 

  • broadened the students’ view of the world and guided them see to cultural diversity as a positive resource 

  • helped the pupils learn to perceive cultural peculiarities and to act flexibly in different environments 

  • strengthened the respect and trust towards other groups of people and nations  

  • offered possibilities to use inclusive and variable ways of work 

  • encouraged pupils to set their own study goals and take responsibility for achieving them

  • increased pupils’ involvement, creativity and motivation in lifelong learning

  • guided students to think and act in a sustainable way
