Healthy Eating at School

It's very important to have nutritious school lunches so that we can be healthy and have energy during the school day.

School menus are very high in cholesterol and saturated fat. They are also very low nutrient rich vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes and fiber. If you start eating badly, than it can lead you to poor eating habits. If you have bad eating habits, than it can lead to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases. For example, according to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, “obesity in children and adolescents have tripled in the past 30 years. In 2007–2008 almost 17 percent of children and adolescents aged 2–19 years were obese.’’

By serving fruits and vegetables, it helps prevent health problems and promotes healthy eating habits.
