Ethics and Code Of Conduct
Basic Principles
eTwinners, their events, messages, posts, project materials, and everything published on the eTwinning platform must comply with and comply with the eTwinning Code of Conduct.
- Be inclusive. Everyone's thoughts and opinions are always welcome and allowed to be expressed within the limits set in this Code of Conduct. eTwinning; promotes understanding, empathy, and openness to make the community a safe and harassment-free space.
- Be respectful. Members of the eTwinning community must be respectful when dealing with and interacting with their peers. Respecting other people and their activities on this platform and assuming good intentions are the motivations behind their actions; makes eTwinners feel not only comfortable and safe but also motivated and productive.
- Be tolerant. Conflicts are inevitable from time to time. The important thing is to always seek constructive solutions to disagreements and differing views within the limits described and defined in this Code of Conduct, and recognize that some situations may lead to a “decision to disagree”.
- Be polite and approachable in all forms of communication, especially at a distance where the possibility of misunderstanding is greater. eTwinning, is the home of all eTwinners; It is an online space where they can freely express themselves, exchange ideas easily, elaborate their ideas and thoughts significantly, and treat the ideas and thoughts of other members equally.
Some of the rules that all eTwinners must follow:
1. eTwinning cannot be used for commercial purposes.
2. eTwinning does not tolerate cyberbullying and harassment. If you are a victim of cyberbullying or if someone threatens you while using one of the eTwinning areas (public and private areas), please report it by sending a message or contacting your National Support Organization. Anyone who cyberbullies or harasses other members of the platform may be permanently banned from eTwinning.
3. Intellectual property
Before sharing any images, videos, documents, or other resources; please make sure you have the right to do this. The eTwinning platform cannot host videos – you must first upload your video to YouTube, DailyMotion, or Vimeo and paste the relevant link on eTwinning. Don't forget to check out their copyright policies too.
4. Identity theft
eTwinners may not impersonate other persons or groups/organizations that they do not represent in a way that is intended to deceive, confuse or defraud others.
5. Students (juniors)
eTwinning takes students' privacy and security seriously. Avoid posting pictures of students in your eTwinning Live profile, TwinSpace, Groups, etc. Where you need to post, make sure you get parental permission and that students are not recognizable.
6. Private information and Sensitive data
You must not share personal information such as personal phone numbers and addresses, credit card information or other private information, or other users' personal information or private photos and videos. Always think before posting!
Internet Ethics
eTwinners should conduct their online interactions professionally, courteously, and respectfully as in real-life interactions. Please, take a look at what users should and shouldn't do.
1. Use the internal messaging system carefully and responsibly.
Avoid sending too many messages to teachers you don't work with.
2. Avoid spamming on forums.
Make sure your message is relevant to the topic of the thread. Before posting a new post, check for other relevant posts and reply to them. Help us keep the forums relevant to improve collaboration!
3. Only post comments that are relevant and appropriate to other users' posts.
When posting a comment on someone else's profile, make sure it's appropriate for the user. Comments should be for individuals and related to the user's message.
4. Avoid sending random contact requests and project invitations.
Avoid asking eTwinners to be your contact person or participate in your project without first communicating. Make sure you have a sensible and manageable number of contacts on your list. Want to follow other people's updates? Instead, follow them.
5. Make the invitation to the event according to the target audience.
Avoid inviting your contacts to events you organize if you are not sure that these colleagues can attend. Random invitations to events held at your school are considered spam.
Violation of the Code of Conduct
- What can you do if you think an eTwinner is not following the Code of Conduct?
- In the Support Community, we do our best to protect people from abuse and spam in eTwinning, but as an active and pluralistic community, we count on you to help us maintain a positive attitude and reduce spam. Therefore; We encourage eTwinners to report such cases when necessary.
- If you come across, receive a private message, or see such content in the Logs and Forums posts, events and comments that you find offensive, infringing, or inappropriate You can use the “report” button – you can also contact your Support Service if possible – and share your reasons for reporting. Your message will be handled by Support Services.
- If one of the users does not respect the Code of Conduct; what happens?
- Failure to comply with the rules set out in this Code of Conduct is a violation of its terms and may result in the temporary or permanent removal of any post or material uploaded by eTwinners at any time without notice. In such cases, the owners and Support Services of the relevant materials will be notified and the reasons for their removal explained. Users who do not comply with the Code of Conduct may be temporarily or permanently banned from eTwinning.
- In case of disagreement, the final decision will be taken by the European Commission, which is responsible for the operation of eTwinning.
