GREEN SCHOOLS FOR GREEN EUROPE

Today, the facilitation of human life by industrialization, urbanization and advanced technology is described as 'modern life'. Measure in modern life; human and human needs. The wrong behavior patterns developed by evaluating nature as a product that is put at the disposal of people and can be consumed have led to the excessive use of natural resources andmany environmental problems. On the other hand, the conveniences provided by the modern lifestyle narrows the physical movement area of people and imposes a sedentary life on people. Health problems and environmental problems due to sedentary life, which can be counted as the disadvantages of modern life, are the two most important problems in Europe. According to WHO data; It is stated that overweight affects 30-80% of adults in Europe, approximately 20% of children and young people are overweight and 1/3 of them are obese. According to the European Environment Agency report, environmental pollution; It causes an average of 500,000 Europeans to die prematurely each year. These figures show that the health of the next generations of Europe, leaving a livable Europe to the next generations and ensuring the continuity of the EU depend on the measures to be taken today. The EU's goal of "creating a society where all young people are environmentally active, educated and able to create change" for a sustainable green Europe is an indication that it prioritizes the education of young people. While environmental education of young people and revealing their potential is so important, 'environmental education' still has not taken the place it deserves in the education systems and curricula of European countries today. Environmental education in the curriculum of the partner schools; It is included as a topic in some courses. Sustainable environment is as much as raising a physiologically/psychologically healthy and educated generation; also considers 'cultural and social integration' important in terms of the continuity of the union. To ensure sustainability in protecting the common cultural heritage in terms of ensuring the cultural integrity of the EU; It depends on the formation ofawareness and awareness in individuals, and the awareness of the society about the cultural heritage. Young people are the key people who can establish the connection between the past, present and future in the recognition and protection ofcultural heritage.
