Distinguishing Cultures Connect

Europe has a great wealth of cultures. Almost all of these cultures are distinguished in a certain way. We have to take care of their characteristic features and to see their ability to connect and unite the peoples of Europe. We want to work out what we can do to make people in our own countries aware of the riches of a culture that is so "different" from their own. We want to increase the understanding of the "ideas" and the connections that have formed a common House of European Cultures supported by individual pillars. We, the teachers should do our utmost to get our students aware that Europe – as varied and distinguished it may be – can live together in mutual understanding. First our students from secondary schools should see how culture and cultural activities can help to bridge gaps between neighbours as well as distant nations. The teachers will encourage their students to start activities in the fields of music, the arts, literature, film, etc. We – the teachers – strongly believe that our project will contribute to forming connections, to get to know and to understand each other, thus promoting and consolidating the basis for lasting European (Comm)Unity. Our students should get to understand that the young generation of Europeans can work together at the same level and in good co-operation.
