Yerli tohumlar; atalık tohum, milli tohum, ata tohumu veya yerel tohum ismiyle de biliniyor. Yerli tohumlar binlerce yıl öncesinden kuraklık, sel, salgın hastalıklar gibi pek çok felaketten yüz akıyla çıkan günümüze ulaşabilmiş sağlıklı ve saf tohumlardır. Bu tohumlar doğal tarım yöntemleri ile üretilen, genetiğiyle DNA’sıyla oynanmamış tohumlardır. Günümüze kadar kimyasal ilaç kullanılmadan geldikleri için besin değeri yüksek, sağlıklı ve lezzetlidirler. Yerli tohumlar kısır veya hibrit tohum olmadıkları için doğurgandır. Yani yerli tohumlardan elde ettiğimiz sebze ve meyvelerden aldığımız tohumları ertesi yıl ekerek çoğaltabiliriz. Çoğalttığımız yerli tohumları bizden sonra gelen kuşak yüzlerce yıl sonra bile kullanabilir. Tohumlar Minik Ellerde Projesi, yerli tohumlarımızı çocuklara tanıtmak ve geleceğe aktarmak amacıyla, öğrencilerimizin ata tohumlarını araştırıp bularak yerli tohumlarımızı incelemelerini, bölgemizde var olan yerli tohumları tanımalarını sağlamak, üretmek için emek vermenin önemini kavratmaktır. Tohumlar Minik Ellerde projesi okul öncesi dönem çocuklarını(3-6 yaş) kapsamaktadır. Native seeds; It is also known as ancestral seed, national seed, ancestral seed or local seed. These seeds are produced by natural farming methods and their DNA has not been genetically modified. In other words, we can multiply the seeds we get from vegetables and fruits obtained from local seeds by planting them the next year. The generations that come after us can use the local seeds that we have propagated even after hundreds of years. Seeds in Little Hands Project aims to introduce our local seeds to children and transfer them to the future, to ensure that our students research and find ancestral seeds, examine our local seeds, get to know the local seeds that exist in our region, and make them understand the importance of working to produce. The Seeds in Little Hands project covers preschool children (3-6 years old).
