Awareness campaign against unsustainable food buying habits
Scuola Secondaria di Primo Grado "Battisti-Ferraris" - Bisceglie, Italy
On the 19th of May, some students from class from class 3F (Gaia DL, Giorgia C, Simonpietro LG, Francesco L) campaigned against unsustainable food buying habits in a 8th grade class. In the research stage they had been helped by Serena L, Emanuele and Carmine. At the beginning of the session the T.A.S.K. group introduced the importance of buying healthy food. Later they carried out an educational activity on reading products labels to know their origin and to make students aware of how some products have long journeys to reach our supermarkets: these journeys need polluting transport, thus impacting on environment. Then, the 8th graders played a kahoot to check what they had just learned. At the end of the session, the T.A.S.K. group gave the class a calendar illustrating the proper fruit and vegetables for each month, so that the students could be aware if what they buy is suitable or not at a certain time of the year.
