An eTwinning story from Ireland’s Singing Island of Arranmore

Árainn Mhór (English name: Arranmore) is an idyllic island off the west coast of County Donegal, Ireland, along the famous Wild Atlantic Way. The island boasts enticing rocky cliffs, golden Irish beaches and breathtaking views of both ocean and mountains. It is also one of the few places in Ireland left with a strong Gaelic tradition.

Moving from school disengagement and early leavers to school success for all!

There is little point keeping young people in school if their school environment is unsafe and can even harm their mental health and well-being. Similarly, there is little point ensuring educational goals are met if, upon finishing school, young people lack basic skills and key competences. Supporting the inclusion of displaced children from Ukraine in education: considerations, key principles and practices for the school year 2022-2023

This Staff Working Document aims at pooling the currently available collective experience and knowledge and provide information on good practice and practical insights to support EU Member States in the inclusion of displaced children from Ukraine in education. It was written by the Commission services in consultation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), representatives of ministries of education, stakeholder organisations that met in peer learning events between March and June 2022, and with experts from the Network working on the social dimension of education and training (NESET).

Ensuring all learners can achieve their full potential, regardless of their socio-economic background or personal situation, is the backbone of inclusive education. The European Commission´s Pathways to school success initiative, under the European Education Area 2025, aims to address inequalities, improve educational outcomes for at-risk groups across Europe and increase attainment in secondary education.
