Cultural Programme - mobility to L`Espluga di Francoli, Spain, 11.2025
Apart from doing educational activities, the students also had the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful landscape and culture. To achieve this, they took part in different visits to the main landmarks in the area.
Tour of Montblanc
On Tuesday afternoon, the students took the bus to visit Montblanc, the county capital near l'Espluga. It is a medieval town surrounded by walls and rich in culture and history. The students had prepared a guided tour to show the main highlights of the town. They stopped at several points to explain to the rest of the group the importance of what they were seeing.
L’Espluga Festival and Town Tour
On Wednesday, the students enjoyed some local cultural traditions. On the one hand, they watched the giants, large structures carried by people who make them dance to the rhythm of traditional music. On the other hand, they also saw els Diables (the devils), who perform traditional dances surrounded by fire.
After these cultural demonstrations, the students took a tour around the town to discover some remarkable landmarks.
Barcelona Cultural City Centre
On Thursday, the students visited the desalination plant, and afterwards they travelled to Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia. They had prepared a tour to visit some of the most important places in the city, such as Barcelona Cathedral, the main squares where the Parliament and the Catalan Government are located, and Plaça de Catalunya.
After lunch, the students enjoyed some free time to explore the city on their own, choosing interesting places to visit such as the Sagrada Família or walking through the streets of the old town.
Visit to the Poblet Monastery
On the last day together, the students visited one of the most important landmarks near l'Espluga: the Poblet Monastery. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a magnificent Cistercian complex and the former royal pantheon of the Crown of Aragon.
To get there, they took a 30-minute walk from the high school, passing through vineyards and crops until they reached Poblet, a small historic village known for its peaceful rural setting and cultural heritage. Once there, they walked through the streets of the village until they reached the impressive monastery, where they took a guided tour to immerse themselves in the history of the place.
Finally, they returned to the school following the same path and enjoyed the closing ceremony.
