IES Hermanos Amorós is a secondary school with more than 50 years of history. The school has more than 700 pupils studying secondary, upper secondary and professional studies, aged between 12 and more than 20 years old. The school counts with more than a hundred of workers (teachers, people of administration, cleaning personal, etc.).

MISSION: We are a public center that, taking into account the characteristics of our students, we work to achieve comprehensive quality training that prepare them for the personal, social and professional needs of today's world.

VIEW: Maintain the educational quality that characterizes us by incorporating constantly innovative educational resources in order to be a center of excellence and reference in the educational field.

VALUES - Education is carried out paying special attention to the following educational principles:

a. Freedom: Education must train students for free choice, from knowledge, among the various options that are offered in life;

b. Equality: Education should promote the effective achievement of equality between people proclaimed in article 14 of the Spanish Constitution; c. Solidarity, tolerance and respect will be values that will govern relationships of some students with others regardless of their origin or religion. In education, habits aimed at achieve a climate of PEACE and TOLERANCE in the educational center, in such a way that it creates in individuals a culture of "NON-VIOLENCE" and respect for others; d. Responsible for all members of the Educational Community in the exercise of their functions, accepting the rules of coexistence. Students will be empowered their share of responsibility in the educational process, assessing the performance of the necessary tasks related to their learning and life at the center;
e. Democratic participation. Life in democracy requires that we train citizens who, from their freedom, participate freely and responsibly in political and social institutions, and are capable of respecting the laws and regulations in force at all times;

f. Scientific, humanistic and artistic curiosity, a true engine of interest in exploring and trying to get to know the world around us;

g. Active participation in their own learning and in the academic life of the Center; h. Respect and defense of the environment; j. Integration. Education will favor the integration of students with special educational needs.
 

General educational objectives:

1. Encourage the full development of the student's personality;

2. To train in the respect of fundamental rights and freedoms, in equal opportunities between men and women, non-discrimination of people with disabilities and education in the exercise of tolerance and freedom within the democratic principles of coexistence;

3. Seek the acquisition of intellectual habits and work techniques, as well as scientific, technical, humanistic, historical and artistic knowledge;

4. Train our students for the exercise of professional activities;

5. Educate in respect of the linguistic and cultural plurality of Spain;

6. Prepare our students to actively participate in social and cultural life;

7. Instruct for peace, cooperation and solidarity among peoples.

 

Between the Specific objectives:

1. Improve the academic performance of our students: improve the graduation rate in ESO and Baccalaureate; reduce the percentage of students
with more than 5 failed subjects; reduce the dropout rate in ESO, Baccalaureate and FPB and increase enrollment in the center;

2. Improve teaching and learning processes by promoting innovation and educational research. Promote multilingualism and quality teaching. Consolidate the acquisition of basic skills for all students, providing them with the basic tools to be able to adapt to a changing society, with a taste for learning and a predisposition for lifelong learning and self-learning;

3. Promote the integration and adaptation of all students; 4. Incorporation of ICT into teaching-learning processes.
