Young European Citizens: An Intercultural Dialogue between European Pupils

The main aims of this multilateral school partnership are to develop and enhance pupils’ learning and understanding of the diversity of young people’s lives; to broaden their attitudes and amplify their abilities to act in social relations, and to enable and promote pupils’ participation in social processes to act as young citizens within the European Union and Turkey. Pupils will develop and practice their knowledge and skills with the aim of communicating and cooperating actively with their peers in the partner schools and with local administrators and politicians. In the first project year, pupils will be carrying out research work on their personal biographies, their school world, and local or national environments and present their findings internationally by comparing and contrasting them with their foreign peers. In the second project year, pupils will focus on the Children’s Rights Charta of the EU and they will research into the general social conditions affecting young people’s lives, relating to specific aspects, e.g. “Conflict” / “Discrimination” / “Violence”, and they will be trying to formulate solutions to the problems they encounter. In both project years, pupils’ delegates will travel to visit some of their partner schools, allowing them to work together personally in an international pupils’ group.
