Learning objectives

In this webinar series, you will: 

 

  • Learn more about the SELFIEforTEACHERS tool by attending the webinar and participating in a guided demonstration that highlights the features, the functionality, the benefits and the future use of the tool.
  • Identify your strengths and areas for improvement in digital competence as a teacher by formulating some ideas for incorporating recommendations generated from the SELFIEforTEACHERS tool into your teaching practice.
  • Be able to evaluate the potential impact of using SELFIEforTEACHERS in your professional development as a teacher by exploring case studies and examples of how other teachers have used the tool to improve their digital competence and by reflecting on personal experiences and goals for professional development.

About the speakers

Anastasia Economou

Anastasia Economou works at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission since February 2020.  She is leading SELFIEforTEACHERS, the self-reflection tool based on the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators and the DigCompEdu project. In her previous position as the head of the educational technology department at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, she led a number of projects on teachers’ professional development and digital technologies for teaching and learning.  She received her BSc in Education from Boston University in 1993, her Master´s degree in Educational Technology from Arizona State University in 1994 and her MBA degree from the University of Cyprus in 2008.  

Nikolaos Mouratoglou

Dr Nikolaos Mouratoglou works as a pedagogical monitoring coordinator at the European School Education Platform and the central support service of eTwinning at European Schoolnet in Brussels. He works closely with teachers from 43 countries, coordinates the embedding of SELFIEforTEACHERS in the European School Education Platform and monitors the impact of eTwinning through policy reports and publications. He holds a degree in Philosophy and Pedagogy, three master's degrees (ICT in Education, Counseling and Vocational Guidance, Adult Education) and a PhD in Educational Psychology, Educational Technology and Pedagogy. Currently, he is an adjunct lecturer in the Master Program of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens "Counseling, Vocational Guidance and Lifelong Learning".

Seán Gallagher

Seán Gallagher is the Principal of Quignamanger National School, Ballina, Co. Mayo Ireland - a primary school with 355 pupils. He is an experienced school leader who has advised schools in Ireland on the effective use of technology in teaching and learning. He was the Irish coordinator of the pilot for the SELFIE framework to assist schools with their planning with regard to the use of technology.

Eirini Kountouri

Eirini Kountouri is a Media Studies teacher with an academic background in Art and Design. She has actively participated in various workshops and seminars focused on education. She firmly believes in the importance of incorporating media literacy into the curriculum and is enthusiastic about inspiring her students to explore the vast realm of media, while emphasising the importance of a responsible and ethical usage. Eirini was a member of the pilot teachers group using the SELFIEforTEACHERS tool.
