Description

Course Content 

This is a practical, hands-on and participative course. 

The input sessions combine lecture-style input with practical activities based on CLIL methodology. Throughout the course, participants are encouraged to: 

 

  • Reflect on their own teaching practice 
  • Consider alternative teaching approaches 
  • Experiment with a variety of classroom activities through: lesson planning, workshops, presentations 

 

Learning objectives

  • Increased confidence in using a variety of teaching techniques, including new technology developments, which are transferable to a range of curriculum subjects at primary or secondary level
  • Greater awareness and understanding of international best practice techniques in the area of CLIL including the area of assessment in the CLIL classroom
  • Digital portfolio of CLIL lesson plans and projects for the CLIL classroom to act as a reference for implementing new techniques in their schools and also as an aid to disseminating the project to colleagues
  • Enhancement of personal English Language skills
  • Sharing of experience with professionals from a range of European countries
  • Increased knowledge of Irish history and culture
  • Knowledge of Erasmus+ potential for professional development 

Methodology & assessment

The course will be delivered using a learner centred and collaborative approach that combines interactive workshops, discussions, and practical activities. Participants will engage with real world case studies, explore transferable strategies for classroom practice, and reflect on their own teaching. Emphasis will be placed on active learning, peer exchange, and the development of practical tools, fostering collaboration and ongoing self reflection while linking theory to everyday educational contexts. Assessment will be ongoing and based on participation and reflection.
