LESSONS FROM FINLAND WITH EDUCATIONAL VISITS TO SCHOOLS 10 DAYS IN HELSINKI

This course is aimed at all those who want learn about the education system and culture in Finland and get in touch with teachers and headmasters in Finnish schools. The course will focus on specific aspects of Finnish culture and education system highlighting the good teaching practices as well as providing opportunities for networking and future partnerships. Description

The course consists of 50 didactic hours and includes the following modules:

  • Introduction of participants, warm ups and ice breakers, outline of the programme
  • Introduction to education system in Finland
  • School visit 1 - tapping into - organization of education
  • School visit 2 - tapping into - classroom management
  • School visit 3 - tapping into - teaching methods and curricula
  • School visit 4 - tapping into - assessment tools and strategies
  • Theoretical introduction and practical workshop on student centered pedagogical approaches
  • Field project on outdoor learning
  • Individual support
  • Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session
  • Teambuilding and networking activities
  • City tour or a cultural trip

Learning objectives

  • Familiarizing with the Finnish culture and education system.
  • Enhancing understanding of the support systems for teachers in Finland.
  • Understanding of organizational aspects of Finnish schools.
  • Understanding student centered approaches applied in Finnish education system.
  • Developing communication, collaboration, presentation, problem solving, negotiation, critical and creative thinking skills.
  • Providing and exercising creative ideas and practical resources for successful implementation of student-centered pedagogical approaches.
  • Improving English fluency (official language of the course).
  • Promoting intercultural awareness.
  • Exchanging views and opinions on challenges and solutions from different organizations in order to help each of us to be more effective in our work.
  • Strengthening the European collaboration among people involved in education in different contexts.
  • Providing insights into different education systems.

Methodology & assessment

Methodology is based on theoretical lessons and presentations of examples of good practice as well as practical workshops, study visits to schools, field projects to places of natural, historical and cultural significance, discussions, reflections and cultural exchanges.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.

Certification details

Certificate complies with the guidelines of the Erasmus+ programme and includes the topic, number of didactic hours, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants. In case. A participant requires a specific format of certificate we can accommodate that if requested at least one week before the start of the course. It is necessary to attend at least 80% of the hours in order to receive the certificate.

Pricing, packages and other information

  • Price:
    EUR 800
  • Course package content:

    The course fee includes tuition and materials for the course and all administrative work. There is also one cultural activity for networking and socialising covered by the course fee.  

    Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves. 

    We do not charge anything extra apart from the 800 EUR course fee.

  • Cancellation & changes:

    Free cancellation up to 30 days before the start. After that, the reservation is not refundable. Changes in name and profile of the participant are possible any time before the start of the course. In case of extraordinary circumstances, we will offer a free re-scheduling to be used within 6 months.

  • Additional information:
    The options and conditions for change and cancellation, and the policy in case of unforeseen circumstances (force majeure).
