This course supports educators in designing inclusive learning environments using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction. Participants develop practical strategies to remove learning barriers, support learner diversity, and promote equitable participation across subjects and educational levels. Description
Inclusive Education in Practice focuses on inclusive lesson design that anticipates learner diversity and promotes equitable access to learning. Grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction, the course explores flexible learning pathways, scaffolding strategies, and inclusive assessment practices. Participants examine common barriers to learning and participation and develop practical approaches to support neurodiverse, multilingual, and socially diverse learners. The course combines theory and hands-on application, enabling teachers to redesign lessons and assessments to ensure meaningful participation and success for all learners. There is also an island tour with a bus and a tour guide to discover the cultural significance and natural beauties of the Azores and network with colleagues.
Learning objectives
Participants will:
- Understand inclusive education as a rights-based and pedagogical approach aligned with Erasmus+ priorities
- Recognise learner diversity as a normal characteristic of contemporary classrooms
- Apply the principles of Universal Design for Learning to inclusive lesson planning
- Design learning activities using multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression
- Implement differentiated instruction strategies for content, process, and learning outcomes
- Identify and remove barriers to learning and participation
- Develop effective scaffolding strategies that support learner independence
- Apply inclusive assessment and feedback practices
- Foster inclusive classroom climates that promote belonging and participation
- Design inclusive lesson plans or classroom action plans transferable to practice
Methodology & assessment
Assessment is formative and process-oriented, focusing on professional development rather than formal testing. Participants’ learning is evidenced through active participation, reflective tasks, collaborative work, and the development of an inclusive lesson plan or classroom action plan. Peer feedback and self-assessment support sustainable transfer to practice.
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
Participants work with inclusive lesson templates, UDL planning tools, differentiation frameworks, case studies, and assessment examples. Digital tools for collaborative work, lesson design, and reflection are introduced. All materials are adaptable and transferable to participants’ own teaching contexts and subjects.
Certification details
Certificate complies with the guidelines of the Erasmus+ programme and includes the topic, number of didactic hours, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants. In case. A participant requires a specific format of certificate we can accommodation that if requested at least one week before the start of the course.

Course package content:
The course fee includes tution and materials for the course and all administrative work. There is also one cultural activity for netowrking and socialasing covered by the course fee.
Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves.
We do not charge anything extra apart from the 400 EUR course fee.

Free cancellation up to 30 days before the start. After that, the reservation is not refundable. Changes in name and profile of the participant are possible any time before the start of the course. In case of extraordinary circumstances, we will offer a free re-scheduling to be used within 6 months.
